Workshops on Collaboration to be offered throughout NYS



The New York State Dispute Resolution Association, Inc. will present “Helping Parents and Schools Become More Effective Partners” at various locations around the state.  The Family-School Partnership at The Advocacy Center will collaborate with NYSDRA to present the event to be held in Rochester on May 5, 2010.   Information from the NYSDRA website is excerpted below:

Helping Parents and Schools Become More Effective Partners
Special Education Mediation: A Collaborative Option for Resolving Disputes

 
This program is Offered by New York State Dispute Resolution Association, Inc.(NYSDRA) in conjunction with the
VESID-authorized Parent Centers and the local Community Dispute Resolution Centers.

This three-hour informational session will offer attendees an opportunity to look at conflict differently, learn about tools and resources to enable people to communicate more effectively and meet representatives from organizations available to assist parents and schools with communication issues.
 
This program will also educate attendees on dispute resolution options, in particular mediation and other collaborative processes.

Attendees will leave the program with:

  • Practical tips and tools for effective communication
  • Information on programs developed to assist parents and schools in conflict
  • Resources for information, advice and support
