Special Education Advocacy Series for Professionals
January 10, 2011Do you work with families who have children receiving special education services? Are you looking for information on the special education process? Would you like to learn more about families’ rights?
The Advocacy Center is sponsoring a five part series for professionals on the topic of Special Education Advocacy. These workshops are ideal for service coordinators, advocates, attorneys, social workers, and transition specialists. Topics include laws, regulations, working effectively with families, evaluations, Individualized Education Programs, evaluating options, behavioral issues, due process, and transition planning.
“We are very excited to offer this opportunity to professionals who support families,” notes Colleen Brown, Public Education Coordinator at The Advocacy Center. “For several years, professionals have been asking to attend our lay advocacy program, a series similar to this that we offer for parents. Now, professionals can attend this series and learn all the information and skills necessary to be effective advocates.”
There is a fee for each session, and a discount for attending all five sessions. For more information, including how to register, please see the flier.
