Pal-Mac Intermediate school welcomed The Advocacy Center for it’s 3rd annual Disability Awareness Day on June 15th, 2010.   The Advocacy Center provided a day long disability awareness experience for the all 5th  graders.

Students had the opportunity to gain a better understanding and appreciation of what the world feels likes, looks like or sounds like when you are an individual with a disability.  Each student had a chance to navigate a wheelchair obstacle course, try out adaptive equipment, and participate in exercises designed to increase their understanding of what it is like to live with a disability.  The day concluded with an interactive drumming performance by Matt Giordano, a talented local musician who has Tourette syndrome.  Students enjoyed a day to celebrate each others differences and abilities.
