NYS Education Department Announces Public Hearings on IDEA



The New York State Education Department, Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID), has scheduled three public hearings on its proposed regulations to implement the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004) and the final federal regulations to implement IDEA 2004, commonly known as Part 300 of the Code of Federal Regulations. In addition, the proposed regulations include amendments relating to New York's "Special Education Regulatory Reform" proposal, which was presented to the Board of Regents in November 2004. The regulations are scheduled for discussion at the March Regents meeting and for action at the Regents meeting in June 2007.
