"Words do matter. Words do hurt. Individuals with disabilities have told us over and over again, 'Do not use this word. We find this word offensive.' It is time to listen, " says Jackie Yingling, editor of The Bridge newsletter.  An essay written by Ms. Yingling was featured on the August 15, 2009 Speaking Out page of the Democrat and Chronicle.
