Fall Conferences Focus on Success

The Advocacy Center announces two fall conferences aimed at promoting success for children and adults with disabilities. “Success from the Start: Strategies for the Journey to Adulthood” promises to be a day of inspiration and learning for individuals with disabilities, family members, and professionals on Saturday, September 24, 2011. This conference, presented in collaboration with the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher, includes success stories, best practices, and many breakout sessions on topics that apply to all ages. The keynote speaker is Loujeania Bost, PhD, Director of the National Dropout Prevention Center for Students with Disabilities.

To celebrate Disability Employment Awareness Month, The Advocacy Center will present Lou Brown, PhD, Professor Emeritus at University of Wisconsin, on Thursday, October 20, 2011. The topic of his talk will be “The Quest for Ordinary Life: Preparing Individuals with Disabilities to Function Productively in the Real World of Work.”
