PDF Creating a Life After High School flier (PDF )

The Advocacy Center, in collaboration with The Midwestern Transition Coordination Site and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, will be offering a five part workshop series for teenagers and young adults with developmental disabilities called "Creating a Life After High School." This series assists self advocates and their families in exploring the options available when they complete their education.

Goals of the workshop series:
? Participants will have the information needed to create an individual support and transition plan.

? Participants will be eligible to access funds (through The Advocacy Center) to "jump start" their future plans.

? Participants will have the information needed to begin to create a plan to submit to the local Developmental Disabilities Office (DDSO) requesting support through the Self- Determination Project or New York Opts.

The series will be held on five consecutive Wednesdays, with the first session on March 7, 2007 at BOCES 2. The location then alternates between BOCES 1 and BOCES 2. To be eligible for the program, individuals must live in Monroe County with family and be eligible for services through New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. For more information, download the PDF version of the flier above, or contact Janet Austin at ext. 236.
